Why Menstrual Education is Important
Our Menstrual Health & Hygiene (MHM) education and awareness program is designed to promote menstrual equity and empower individuals with accurate knowledge and resources.
Millions of menstruators around the world face unnecessary shame, stigma, and health risks simply because periods remain a shunned topic. Nearly 50% of girls in some countries don’t know what menstruation is before their first period (UNESCO, 2020), and the lack of education also forces 1 in 10 girls in Sub-Saharan Africa to miss school, thus also on the opportunities they deserve, due to menstruation (World Bank, 2018). By breaking this silence, we can create a world where no one is held back by their period.
Menstrual health is a right, not a privilege.
